The Institut de la Màcula welcomes Begisare
The Institut de la Màcula last month received a visit from the President of Retinosis Gipuzkoa Begisare, Itziar González, together with Ramón, a member of the organisation. Both took advantage of their stay in Barcelona for the round table on low vision organised at the Novartis auditorium to meet the Institut team with whom they have collaborated on several initiatives for some years. Begisare is the benchmark in the Basque Country with regard to Retinitis Pigmentosa. It raises awareness about the disease and supports genetic research to discover solutions that improve the quality of life of those affected.
Begisare created some years ago the logo "I have low vision" distributed among those affected who show interest in it. The Institut de la Màcula subscribed to this initiative from the outset. In addition, Ramón —together with other sufferers- took part in the campaign "Retinitis: life through a tunnel" where he explains how the disease affects him in his daily activities.
During the event at the Novartis auditorium, the representatives from Begisare had the opportunity to chat to Dr. Jordi Monés. In their visit, they met the Institut’s Head of Institutional Relations, Anna Borrell, and its Head of Low Vision, Carol Camino, who is also the President of the Spanish Society of Low Vision Specialists (SEEBV).
