The article "Hyporeflective wedge-shaped band in geographic atrophy secondary to age-related Macular Degeneration: an underreported finding" was published in the July issue of the Ophthalmology journal, official journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

The authors of this article, Dr. Jordi Monés, Dr. Fábio Trindade and Marc Biarnés expose a new discovery in the layers of the retina of people with geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration.

Dr. Monés, director of the Institut de la MÀCULA, said that "this finding may be of importance in understanding the mechanisms of disease at cellular level and could contribute to research new experimental drugs."
