Barcelona hosts the 23rd Congress of the Spanish Society of Oculoplastic Surgery

From today, the Catalan capital will gather Spain’s top experts in oculoplastic surgery or plastic and reconstructive ophthalmic surgery, a branch of ophthalmology which is relatively modern in its present form although long-standing in nature.

Oculoplastic surgery is focused on the diagnosis and the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the eyelid, tear duct and orbit, including conditions which result in the loss of the eyeball.

From Wednesday 26th until Friday 28th June, Barcelona will play host to a new edition of the National Congress of its Scientific Society, the SECPOO, at which Dr. Nieto, an ophthalmology specialist in ocular plastic surgery at theInstitut de la Màcula, will be participating.

Dr Nieto will be there as a member of the Scientific Assessment Committee, which is responsible for rating the work presented during the Congress, and he will be the moderator of the round table on anophthalmic orbit.

In addition, the Institut de la Màcula specialist will participate as a distinguished speaker at the roundtable on complications in blepharoplasty, one of the most common diseases of the specialty. To download the full programme, click here.

Dr. Nieto is an ophthalmologist who specialises in ocular plastic surgery at the Institut de la Màcula. A graduate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, he subsequently specialised in ophthalmology at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in the same city. In his surgery at the Institut, Dr. Nieto performs cosmetic eyelid surgery through the use of minimally invasive techniques without visible scarring, together with non-surgical facial rejuvenation with state-of-the-art medical treatment. He is also a specialist in reconstructive surgery of the eyelid, orbit and tear duct.
